Shulamith Clearbridge is offering five programs in 2026 and early 2027. She is happy to provide more information about any of these programs.

Shulamith has been teaching workshops and classes since she was 18 years old. She has taught privately (offering her courses to the general public), for organizations (such as the American Association of University Women), institutions (such as public libraries), and continuing education programs in community colleges. She has led programs on spirituality and Quakerism for church and interfaith groups. 

For Friends, she has led workshops, retreats, and adult religious education programs for monthly, quarterly, and yearly meetings. She has facilitated years-long series of Meetings for Healing and Experiment with Light. 

Shulamith has taught workshops for Quaker retreat and conference centers, including Pendle Hill in Wallingford, PA, and for national organizations such as Friends General Conference. She has designed weekend retreats to meet the needs of particular groups.

Shulamith presents programs in person, online, and in hybrid formats.

Developing a “Rule of Life” has helped people for hundreds of years to get specific and serious—though with joy and hope and a light touch—about becoming the person they want to be.

Instead of a Rule of Life, I call it by many other names, including: “Rule for Joy!” “Guide to Inspiration,” or “Path to Transformation.”

A Rule should not be dry, dull, or onerous, but something that we love to do, that inspires, transforms, and empowers!

Bubbling Springs: The Life & Writings of Margaret Fell

Margaret Fell is often called “the mother of Quakerism” because of her pivotal role in establishing the Religious Society of Friends. This workshop will give Friends an opportunity to learn about Margaret and spend time with some of her writings, which have been updated into modern and gender-neutral language. Her words are surprisingly relevant to the times we live in.

Lectio Divina

Lectio divina, or “divine reading,” is a way of slowly reading a very short text or quotation, interspersing it with repetition and silence to reflect. It is designed so that the meaning of the words penetrates us deeply, going to our hearts rather than being analyzed by our brains.
